Perry Hill IV Highway Cleanup

Since 2015 Omega Psi Phi - Nu Chi Chapter's Adopt-A-Highway program has involved volunteers across the city working together to clean up Illinois. Currently, more than 100 members and 50 volunteers in the program are focused on making East St. Louis' roadsides cleaner and more attractive for our residents and visitors. More than 400 miles of roadway have been cleaned.

Adopter groups include commercial and private enterprises, civic and non-profit organizations, families and individuals. IDOT spends about $6 million annually to remove litter from more than 385,000 acres of right of way along 34,000 state highway miles.

The clean up initiative has four goals:

  1. clean up litter
  2. mow
  3. beautify through landscaping
  4. Grow Native! by planting native Missouri wildflowers and grasses
